It was refreshing to see the issue of cliques addressed at our final class meeting. Having a large number of people from the same school district may have created a natural clique, and I could be very much to blame. I also fear that a disconnect has formed between those who are eager to participate and engage in class discussion and those who choose not to. Those who choose not to, could feel intimidated by those who dominate the conversation. I have even caught myself thinking if I speak too much in class and that has led to some of my colleagues from not participating in class. I also feel that I am an adult and I want to get as much out of our learning experiences and one way to do that is to be an active participant in class discussions. To be an effective leader, I have to be confident in sharing my thoughts and ideas and can not hesitate to do so because I am worried about hurting somebody else's feelings. I can hope that my thoughts can evoke thought in others and hopefully create a better experience for all.
